MGM Resorts International could be on the brink of losing many of its Las Vegas workers as the Culinary Workers Union continues to threaten strike action. If anonymous insider sources are to be believed, it seems the operator is getting so desperate it has ordered its corporate employees to step in if a strike occurs.

threatening them with firing if they refuse

According to information shared by local news source Las Vegas Locally, MGM is preparing for a casino worker strike in the next two weeks. The operator has supposedly asked its corporate workers to provide times they are willing to replace striking workers, even threatening them with firing if they refuse.

Las Vegas Locally shared a message confirming the information from a supposed MGM employee:

The Culinary Union is currently attempting to negotiate better deals between its members and Las Vegas’s casino giants, including MGM, Caesars Entertainment, and Wynn Resorts. Last week, workers blocked the Las Vegas Strip with a rally as they demanded better pay, benefits, and working conditions.

An extremely busy time is approaching the Las Vegas Strip as it prepares to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix. In response to the Las Vegas Locally post, one X user said the Nov 18 race weekend would be “a hell of a time” for a strike.
