Share

Pennsylvania had an astounding increase in gaming income, with total gaming receipts hitting $483 million in October. This amounts to a 7.3% rise from October 2022 and a 1.4% increase from the figure of $576.3 million in September 2022.

Retail slot machines brought approximately $192.5 million, or about 40% of the total gaming income. Land-based table games income showed resiliency, increasing by 2.0% annually to reach $81.5 million, despite the fact that this was a 3.3% decrease from the prior year.

Sports Betting Takes Center Stage

The record-breaking sports betting handle in October, which increased 4.0% from the previous monthly high to reach an astounding $797.1 million, was Pennsylvania’s most notable achievement. This resulted in a remarkable 18.8% year-over-year growth in sports betting revenue, reaching $48.2 million. With $43.1 million, online wagering made up the majority of the total, while retail betting provided $5.1 million.

With $258.3 million in wagers, Hollywood Casino at the Meadows and Barstool have again demonstrated their superiority in the industry. Valley Forge and FanDuel trailed with $18.2 million in income, even though their handle was greater at $328.4 million. Third place went to Rivers Casino Pittsburgh and BetRivers, who took home $2.3 million from $33.5 million in total bets.

Online gambling, spanning slots, tables, and poker, witnessed robust growth, with total revenue reaching $154.8 million. This marked a substantial 24.3% increase from October last year, falling just short of the record set in September at $159.5 million. The surge was led by a remarkable 27.2% rise in online slots revenue to $109.8 million. Internet table games revenue also experienced a healthy uptick, reaching $42.6 million. However, online poker revenue declined marginally by 5.8% to $2.3 million.

With $35.4 million, Valley Forge Casino Resort took second place; Rivers Casino Philadelphia came in second with $29.3 million.

Revenue from video gaming terminals decreased by 4.0% to $3.4 million. The income from fantasy sports games decreased little as well, by 4.3% to $2.7 million in October.
