Google 強調迷因的重要性，表示「迷因是網路文化的體現」，且已經吸引住網友們的注意力，因此將 .meme 設為頂級域名是合適的舉動。
Google 開放了一個新的頂級域名，讓使用者在網址後面加上「.meme」（迷因），用來分享幽默搞笑的資訊。
Google 強調迷因的重要性，表示「迷因是網路文化的體現」，且已經吸引住網友們的注意力，因此將.meme 設為頂級域名是合適的舉動。
.meme 已開放註冊，不過目前為初期階段需支付一筆額外的費用，若不想另外付費也可等 12 月 6 日公開後，就只需要付基本年費。
現在有數個 Google 夥伴網站都開始使用此域名，包括迷因網站「grumpycat.meme」、「knowyour.meme」等，也可以上 Google 此網頁確認哪些域名還能登記。
Google 已經有一系列有趣網域名，像是「.dad」和「.boo」，還有近期新的「.ing」。
