According to recent data, players in Indiana spent a staggering $513.7 million on sports betting in November, setting a new monthly record for the Hoosier State. These figure surpassed the previous record of $500.1 million set in January 2022 by 2.7%. The increase in betting activity represents a 13.6% rise from November 2022 and a 19.6% increase from October this year.

Basketball emerged as the most popular sport for betting in Indiana, with players wagering a total of $145.7 million. This surge in basketball betting can be attributed to the start of the new NBA season in late October. American football also garnered significant interest, with bets amounting to $136.9 million. Baseball, on the other hand, saw relatively lower betting activity, with only $1.1 million in wagers. Other sports collectively attracted $59.8 million in bets.

When it comes to operator performance, Blue Chip Casino and FanDuel regained the lead in Indiana, generating $12.4 million in revenue from $176.3 million in bets during November. Ameristar Casino and DraftKings, who held the top spot in October, slipped to second place with $10.5 million in revenue from $190.5 million in bets. Belterra Casino, another FanDuel partner, ranked third, earning $1.9 million in revenue from $38.1 million in bets.

The surge in sports betting activity has also had a positive effect on tax revenue in Indiana. In November, the state collected $2.9 million in sports betting tax. Although this represents a decline of 23.3% from the same month last year, it is important to note that the tax revenue generated in October was significantly higher, at $45.2 million.
