Paddy Power has rounded up the money raised during the World Darts Championship to £1m ($1.27m) after a record number of 180s were scored during the tournament.

The tournament sponsor and bookmaker had initially pledged to donate £1,000 ($1,269) to charity Prostate Cancer UK for every 180 hit at the World Championship. When 28-year-old darts winner Luke Humphries beat 16-year-old Luke Littler in a thrilling final, that figure stood at £914,000 ($1.16m).

While it set a new record from last year’s 901 180s hit, Paddy Power decided to go one step further, rounding up that figure to £1m.

Humphries said he would also donate a portion of his £500,000 ($634,000) prize money to the charity

Winning the Ballon d’Art trophy for hitting 73 180s, Humphries said he would also donate a portion of his £500,000 ($634,000) prize money to the charity.

Prostate Cancer UK Chief Executive Laura Kerby said they were “thrilled” when Paddy Power raised the total amount raised to £1m.

Kerby added: “With every iconic shout of ‘180’ we have made a huge difference to men affected by this disease – and their loved ones too.”

The cause is extra special for Humphries as his girlfriend’s father was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. Before his victory, Humphries said that he would give the Ballon d’Art trophy to his girlfriend’s father if he won it.
