Sports betting in the state of New Hampshire. has seen the handle and revenue suffer a slight decline in December, however the overall trend remains positive.

In December, the sports betting handle in New Hampshire amounted to $78.8 million, representing a 13.3% decrease compared to the previous year. However, it was a marginal improvement of 0.4% from the handle in November 2023.

Online betting accounted for the majority of the handle, with players wagering $67.0 million online and $11.7 million at retail sportsbooks throughout the state. These numbers indicate the growing popularity of online platforms among bettors.

The gross gaming revenue for December stood at $7.7 million, a 7.2% decline from the previous year. This decrease can be attributed to various factors, including fluctuations in betting patterns and the overall market sentiment.

Online sports betting generated $6.7 million in revenue, while retail wagering contributed $972,039. It is worth noting that all online bets in New Hampshire are placed exclusively through DraftKings, which secured the rights to sports wagering in the state in November 2019.

The state of New Hampshire collected $3.4 million in tax revenue from sports betting activities in December. Of this total, $2.9 million came from online wagering, while $437,417 was generated from retail sportsbooks.

As of December, New Hampshire’s sports betting handle for the 2023-24 financial year reached $377.6 million. Online betting accounted for $328.1 million of the total handle, while retail wagering amounted to $49.5 million.

In terms of revenue, the state generated $37.7 million during the same six-month period. Online betting contributed $33.5 million, while retail sportsbooks brought in $4.2 million.

The tax revenue from sports betting activities in H1 amounted to $16.5 million. Of this amount, $14.6 million was generated from online activities, while $1.9 million came from land-based sportsbooks.

Despite the slight decline in December, the overall sports betting landscape in New Hampshire remains promising. The state government continues to explore opportunities to optimize revenue generation from this growing industry.

Additionally, the exclusive partnership between New Hampshire and DraftKings has played a significant role in the development of online sports betting in the state. This collaboration has provided bettors with a seamless and secure platform to place their wagers.
