Former Alabama Coach Brad Bohannon Banned From Betting In Ohio

Former University of Alabama baseball head coach Brad Bohannon was officially placed on Ohio’s involuntary exclusion list for sports betting. Placing Bohannon on the list was made official at Wednesday’s Ohio Casino Control Commission meeting.

Bohannon shared inside information with an Ohio bettor on April 28, ahead of Alabama’s game with LSU. Bohannon was quickly fired by Alabama for sharing insider information, and he’s since been penalized by the NCAA as well. He also faces criminal charges, likely making the involuntary exclusion the least of his concerns.

Investigations into the incident found that Bohannon told Bert Neff via text message that Alabama’s starting pitcher would be unable to start against the top-ranked Tigers. Bohannon texted Neff to “HAMMER” LSU, and Neff attempted to wager $100,000 on the Tigers at an Ohio retail sportsbook. Neff’s wagering activity was flagged as suspicious by the sportsbook.

Not only is Bohannon banned from using Ohio sports betting apps, but he’s also prohibited from entering the state’s retail sports betting facilities. The OCCC plans to add Neff to the involuntary exclusion list as well, but he requested a hearing before the commission on the matter. No official date for that hearing has been set.
