Reno Poll Underscores Importance Of Non-Gaming Casino Activities To Locals
How does it feel to live in a city that’s best known for its casinos? Pretty good, according to poll results published Tuesday by the Reno Gazette-Journal.
While most poll respondents said they were “apathetic” about living in northern Nevada’s foremost casino town, 30% said they loved it and just 16% said they loathed it.
Perhaps more illuminating was that 35% of the Renoites polled said drinking and dining were the main reasons why they visited casinos, while only 6% said it was gambling and a slight majority favored all of the above, including entertainment.
These opinions reflect an industry-wide movement toward offering more non-gaming activities at casino properties in an effort to attract locals and patrons of all ages.
Elsewhere in the RGJ’s poll, 40% of respondents said they visited a casino five or more times per year, while a quarter said they never visited.
Meanwhile, 37% said the most they’ve won gambling was between $1 and $1,000, while an identical percentage reported winning more than $1,000 at least once.
As for losing, 17% of respondents said they’d dropped more than $1,000 at a local casino. Meanwhile, half reported losing no more than $100, while a third said they’d lost between $100 and $500 in a single visit.
