The authorities in Indiana apprehended a casino robber in the woods close to the property. The suspect walked up to the cashier cage at the Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg on Saturday night and demanded money while wielding a gun. A witness described the scene, saying that the robber grabbed someone and held them hostage while trying to escape from security personnel.

Patrons said they did not hear any gunshots, despite the active shooter announcement.

The casino went into lockdown until officers apprehended the suspect. Officers from Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana were on the scene, as well as ambulances and a SWAT team.

Law enforcement used a helicopter, drone, and K-9 dogs to track down the robber. They eventually arrested 39-year-old Daniel Birdseye; prosecutors will meet on Monday to finalize the charges. The Indiana Gaming Commission is now heading up the investigation and will check to see if anyone else played a role in the robbery.

Business returned to normal shortly after the apprehension of the suspect. Talking to local media in the aftermath of the incident, the Hollywood Casino thanked law enforcement for protecting staff members and visitors.
