Kindbridge Partnership Headlines FanDuel Problem Gambling Initiatives

FanDuel announced a handful of new problem gambling initiatives on Thursday, chief among them a partnership with Kindbridge Behavioral Health that will bring mental health services to individuals who have self-excluded from FanDuel’s online casino and sports betting platforms in New Jersey and Ohio.

According to a press release, the pilot program will allow individuals in need to schedule telehealth appointments with specialized problem gambling outpatient treatment providers. Furthermore, individuals who self-exclude from FanDuel’s platforms in New Jersey and Ohio will gain access to a complimentary mental health assessment and a range of peer support and educational groups designed to enhance their recovery journey.

“Our team works year-round at FanDuel to equip and support our customers to play responsibly,” said Alison Kutler, vice president of sustainability and responsible gaming for FanDuel, while Kindbridge CEO Daniel Umfleet added, “This collaboration is deeply resonant, extending a compassionate hand to those navigating the complex terrain of problem gambling. At the heart of our ethos lies a fervent belief in the power of accessible mental health resources to illuminate paths toward healing and recovery.”

RG grants and retail rewards

In unveiling the Kindbridge partnership, FanDuel also announced that it would be donating $150,000 apiece to the National Council on Problem Gambling and the International Center for Responsible Gambling. The latter grant will fund research to understand gambling behavior in the U.S. and help the industry better mitigate risk and improve its RG programs.

Throughout March, which is Problem Gambling Awareness Month, FanDuel will reward customers who make use of its responsible gambling tools at retail locations in Phoenix, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. Bettors who offer proof that they’ve managed their play with deposit, wager, or time limits will receive a FanDuel “Play Well”-branded gift from a sportsbook staffer.
