據美國司法部公告，FBI 揭露了一起網路詐騙案，詐騙手法透過電腦的彈出視窗所發起，指示受害者透過詐騙號碼聯繫假冒的微軟、蘋果客服人員。
假客服以銀行帳戶洩露、防範駭客進一步入侵為由，說服受害者將法幣轉為加密貨幣，並將資金轉移至詐騙集團掌控的非託管加密錢包中，司法部指出受害者大多為老年人。

FBI 透過鏈上數據追溯到 5 個相關非法地址，並要求出具扣押令以扣押資金，而 Tether 協助了扣押過程。

Tether 表示在協助美國司法部、FBI 扣押 140 萬枚 USDT 的過程中發揮了關鍵作用，並已將資金返還給受害者，而司法部也公開承認了 Tether 的協助。
執行長 Paolo Ardoino 強調，能與美國政府合作以打擊加密相關的金融詐欺，他們感到非常自豪，未來將與全球執法機構共同打造更安全的環境。
