Fontainebleau Now Counter Sues Wynn Resorts Over Employment Squabble

Wynn Resorts who has accused Fontainebleau of unethically persuading its employees to breach their non-compete clauses, to which Fontainebleau vehemently denies the allegations, maintaining that their new hires left Wynn Resorts due to dissatisfaction.
“Fontainebleau officials assert that the executives who transitioned from Wynn to Fontainebleau did so independently, citing their own dissatisfaction with their former employer.”
In response to Wynn’s accusations, Fontainebleau filed a counterclaim in Clark County District Court. The counterclaim suggests that Wynn’s management had an initial interest in Fontainebleau while still being employed at Wynn. It also accuses Wynn of resorting to bullying tactics to discourage employees from leaving.
“The counterclaim highlights executives’ initial interest in Fontainebleau while still employed at Wynn. Allegations of Wynn resorting to bullying tactics to dissuade employees from leaving are also outlined.”
The counterclaim includes a heated email exchange between Wynn CEO, Craig Billings, and Fontainebleau CEO, Jeff Soffer. Soffer expressed his disappointment in Billings’ conduct, stating:
“As FBDev and FBLV have now come to know from subsequent interactions, Billings demonstrated a disturbing lack of dignity and judgment normally exhibited by CEOs of publicly traded companies.”
Wynn Resorts responded to the counterclaim by dismissing it as a ploy to generate social media chatter. Wynn officials stated:
“Fontainebleau’s counterclaim, filled with fictitious accusations, was clearly designed to incite social media chatter and is devoid of answers to our original claim.”
Despite the ongoing legal battle, Fontainebleau had its grand opening in December 2023. It had received regulatory approval a month prior to its opening. Wynn Resorts, while engaged in this dispute, expressed their hope for Fontainebleau’s success:
“We clearly hope Fontainebleau will achieve the success to which it aspires; its success, if it comes, will benefit all of us.”
