RSI appoints Brian Sapp CMO

Rush Street Interactive (RSI) has appointed Brian Sapp as its new CMO.

Sapp previously worked as the Head of Growth at Rec Room, a virtual reality space that acts as a hangout area for users.

Rec Room brought Sapp to the team in 2021, after it achieved unicorn status and went on to raise a total of $3.5bn in funding in the next few years.

During his time at the company, Sapp was responsible for overseeing marketing, publishing, consumer insights, first-party revenue and the life cycle of the product.

This is especially interesting, seeing as Inspired recently debuted its virtual sports product through RSI in New Jersey.

Prior to this, Sapp held the position of SVP of User Acquisition Marketing and Advertising at Jam City, a company responsible for developing mobile games, such as Cookie Jam, Panda Pop and Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery.

This wasn’t the only mobile game portfolio he supported either, as Sapp was also the Director of Digital Publishing at WB Games, where he managed user acquisition, analytics and monetisation strategies.

Richard Schwartz, RSI CEO, said: "As we continue to grow and expand across the Americas, a marketing leader with Brian’s unique blend of gaming and mobile experience, strategic insight, and creativity will be additive to the team as we shape the future of our brand and continue to innovate our customer first experience.

“We are thrilled to welcome him aboard to lead our marketing strategy, team, and operations.”

At RSI, Sapp will focus on both the new and maturing markets in the online gambling space.

On his appointment, Sapp said: "I am thrilled to join Rush Street Interactive at a time when the company has such strong momentum.

“RSI’s customer-first focus really resonated with me as a marketer who understands what it takes to succeed in a competitive mobile landscape.

“I look forward to leveraging my experience and expertise to drive forward our marketing initiatives during RSI’s next phase of growth and deliver exceptional experiences to our customers."
