

Delaware March Sports Betting Zooms Up By 440%
In March, Delaware witnessed a huge surge in sports betting handle, reaching $18.9 million. Te figure represents a 440% increase compared to the previous year, when only $3.5 million was spent on sports betting. Furthermore, the March handle was 37% higher than February’s figure of $13.8 million.
The exponential growth in Delaware’s sports betting industry can be attributed to several key factors. One significant driver was the successful launch of the Delaware Lottery’s first online sportsbook in partnership with Rush Street Interactive (RSI) and BetRivers. This online platform went fully live in January, attracting a large number of bettors and contributing to the surge in handle.
Delaware Park emerged as the frontrunner in March, generating $681,548 in revenue from $13.1 million in bets. Harrington Raceway secured the second position, with $176,583 in revenue from $3.3 million in bets. Bally’s Dover rounded off the top three, accumulating $113,692 in revenue from $1.5 million in wagers.
An additional $58,273 in monthly sports betting revenue was generated from $990,664 bets placed with retailers across Delaware.
In addition to the impressive growth in sports betting, Delaware’s online casino market also experienced a significant surge in March. The total spend in the online casino market reached $136.0 million, marking a substantial 227.7% increase compared to the previous year. Moreover, this figure was 16.0% higher than February’s total spend of $117.2 million.
Of the total amount wagered by players in March, $85.3 million was bet on video lottery games, while $50.7 million was wagered on online table games. The revenue generated by the online casino market in March surpassed last year’s figure by 228.6%, reaching a total of $4.6 million. This revenue was also 18.0% higher than February’s revenue of $3.9 million.
Online video games accounted for $3.3 million of the monthly revenue, while table games contributed $1.3 million.
Similar to the sports betting market, the online casino market in Delaware saw the launch of new platforms in January by each of the state’s three operators. Delaware Park claimed the top spot in terms of revenue, generating $2.0 million from online video and table games. Harrington Raceway secured the second position, with $1.6 million in revenue from a total spend of $38.9 million. Bally’s Dover rounded off the market, accumulating $951,096 in revenue from $26.1 million in wagers.
