Racing icon Rubens Barrichello appointed non-executive director in Latin America

Renowned racing figure Rubens Barrichello has been named as the Non-Executive Director for Latin America at Softswiss, marking a significant move within the regional tech industry.

The appointment, made by Softswiss, aims to leverage Barrichello's extensive background to forge connections within the local tech community.

Barrichello's Formula 1 career and influential standing are seen as assets in fostering genuine engagement with Latin America's tech ecosystem. With a reputation for success in highly competitive environments, Barrichello is expected to bring leadership insights and collaborative skills to his new role.

The decision to bring Barrichello on board is part of a broader strategy to capitalise on his sports background, potentially enhancing the company's offerings in areas such as sports betting platforms.

Additionally, Barrichello is anticipated to contribute to discussions on responsible gambling practices, aligning with industry standards.

This strategic move comes amid projections of substantial growth in Latin America's iGaming market, particularly in Brazil. According to TGM Research, the region's iGaming industry revenue is forecasted to reach €2.3bn ($2.4bn) by 2026, representing potential economic significance.

Ivan Montik, Softswiss Founder, commented: "Softswiss welcomes Rubens Barrichello on board! Having him join our team is a strategic step for us. Barrichello's collaborative prowess on the racing track in a highly competitive tech sphere, resulting in team victories, mirrors Softswiss' partnership approach. His involvement testifies to our commitment to Brazil and helps us adapt the best global practices to the local market."

Barrichello added: "The iGaming field has shown remarkable growth both in Brazil and globally. Joining Softswiss, I am delighted to become one of the drivers of this process in Latin America! I am sure my background with the leading racing team will propel the iGaming tech leader towards success in the region."

The appointment of Rubens Barrichello as Non-Executive Director underscores efforts to leverage diverse expertise in driving innovation and fostering strategic partnerships within Latin America's tech sphere.

In February 2024, Softswiss unveiled AI-driven event streaming capabilities within its casino platform, enhancing real-time monitoring and predictive analytics for operators. Additionally, the company obtained GLI-19 certification last year, streamlining market entry for interested operators.
