KSA imposes incremental penalties on Sarah Eternal

Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has imposed an order against the company Sarah Eternal for offering games of chance without a licence on the website Casinosky.com.

The order will require Sarah Eternal to make incremental penalty payments of €280,000 per week with a maximum of €840,000 until the violation is ceased, as offering this form of gaming without a licence is prohibited in the Netherlands.

In the KSA’s investigation into the platform, inspectors were able to visit Sarah Eternal’s Casinosky.com website where they could ‘create an account, make a deposit and participate in illegal games of chance.’ This was despite stating their location as being in the Netherlands.

The KSA advises all operators working without a Dutch licence to do as much as possible to avoid their platforms being accessible to Dutch players.

As the Dutch gaming regulator, the KSA has handed out a range of fines and impositions during 2024 so far. Last week, the regulator reprimanded two sports betting sites for their use of ‘role models’ in their advertising, which violates a ban on the use of celebrities, influencers and models in gambling adverts.

The KSA also imposed a penalty on Casbit Group in April, which would charge the company €280,000 a week for a maximum of €840,000 if it did not cease offering online casino games via Lala.bet without a licence.

The KSA also announced plans to implement new Responsible Gaming Policy Rules in June of this year, later clarifying that some rules would be implemented later on in the year.
