MGM China invites Yangzhou representatives to discuss tourism and talent development

MGM China hosted a delegation from Yangzhou at MGM Cotai to discuss collaborative opportunities with representatives from MGTO and Yangzhou to enhance tourism development in Macau.

MGM China is actively working to align with Macau SAR Government's "Tourism+" strategy, aiming to boost tourism and talent development. Last year, the company facilitated a visit for representatives from Macau's government and tourism industry to Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, a city known as the 'Creative City of Gastronomy'. During the visit, MGM China signed agreements with local universities and businesses to nurture tourism talent in both Jiangsu and Macau. In a reciprocal gesture, a delegation from Yangzhou visited Macau, fostering cooperation in tourism and talent training between the two cities.

Recently, the company hosted a delegation from Yangzhou led by Wang Jinjian, Secretary of the CPC Yangzhou Municipal Committee, at MGM Cotai for an exchange session. This meeting included Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes from the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Cindia Lam from the Institute of Executive and Professional Development of Macau University of Tourism and Ben Wong from the Association of Patriotism Exchange (Macau). Kenneth Feng, President of MGM China, discussed collaborative opportunities with representatives from MGTO and Yangzhou, aiming to enhance tourism development in Macau.

During the visit, Yangzhou delegates explored MGM's cultural tourism offerings, including the MGM Theater, the Spectacle, the 'Fondant Art Exhibition' and antique carpets dating back to the Qing Dynasty.

As both Yangzhou and Macau are recognized as 'Creative Cities of Gastronomy' by UNESCO, MGM also participated in the 2024 Morning Tea Culture Week in Yangzhou at the invitation of the Fuchun Teahouse.

The collaborations discussed will allow MGM China to continue non-gaming revenue growth, as well as overall growth as was reported in its Q1 2024 results. In a Gambling Insider CEO Special interview, MGM China's President and COO Hubert Wang shared the struggles he faced running a business amidst the Covid-19 pandemic and the importance of diversifying offerings at casinos in Macau.
