Player Protection Symposium returns to help kick off Canadian Gaming Summit

The countdown to the Canadian Gaming Summit has officially begun; the event takes place June 18-20 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

The annual event for gaming and sports betting senior executives from across Canada and beyond is produced by SBC in collaboration with the Canadian Gaming Association. More than 3,000 delegates expected to attend this year.

Player safety is a key pillar of Ontario’s regulated igaming market, so SBC has brought back the Player Protection Symposium to help launch the summit on June 18.

The Symposium will bring together 100 C-level stakeholders to share their strategies on implementing successful player-protection and responsible-gambling strategies. SBC spokesperson Cristian Robalino said last year’s Symposium attracted a standing-room-only crowd. This year, they have increased the capacity to 300.

“Player Protection is one of SBC’s pillars when it comes to content. That is why we have a full dedicated day for it,” Robalino told CDC Gaming Reports. Participants of the symposium include representatives from gambling operators, professional sports teams and leagues, regulators, and the media from Canadian, U.S., and European markets.

A full day of panel discussions is scheduled. Martin Lycka, SVP for American Regulatory Affairs and Responsible Gambling, Entain, will also host the latest episode of his “Safe Bet Show” live in front of the conference audience, diving into the topic of safer gambling and its impact on gambling legislation.

New this year will be a Crown Corporation Lounge on the exhibition floor. This designated area offers event attendees a chance to engage directly with representatives from crown corporations: the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC), Loto-Québec, Atlantic Lottery (ALC), and Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Corporation (MBLL).

SBC is also bringing back networking parties and events. Tuesday evening’s party, sponsored by Light & Wonder and AGEM, will be held at RS Sports Bar. Wednesday night, an event at Lavelle is sponsored by Paramount Commerce and Aristocrat.

“SBC has put in tremendous effort to bring together this year’s Canadian Gaming Summit, ensuring an unparalleled platform for industry professionals to connect, innovate, and drive the future of gaming in Canada,” said Robalino. “Immediately after last year’s successful event, we gathered feedback and began working to enhance this year’s experience. Attendees will notice improvements, such as larger conference rooms, a new Crown Corporation Lounge, and expanded networking space on the show floor. This event promises to be the largest gathering of operators in the country, offering unique opportunities for collaboration and growth in the gaming sector.”
