Just a few weeks after Chris Moneymaker re-announced himself on the professional poker scene by winning his first Triton tournament, he opened a new poker room in Kentucky on Saturday.

The 48-year-old chalked up the third biggest payout of his career last month with a $903,000 win the $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em event in Montenegro. He has now put his name on a new Louisville poker room, the eight-table Moneymaker Social Louisville, located down the road from the state’s only other poker facility.

This isn’t the first time the Tennessee resident has launched a poker room. A poker club named Moneymaker Social Club launched in Paduca in the fall of 2022 before shutting its doors just a few months later after receiving threats of legal action from local officials. Moneymaker avoided arrest after agreeing to stop the operations.

State law doesn’t allow poker rooms that collect a rake, so Moneymaker Social gets around this by operating as a club and instead taking seat fees and membership dues. Once his new facility is established and running smoothly, Moneymaker intends to open another one in Lexington.
