Evolution Games Found in Illegal Online Casinos in Southeast Asia

According to an investigation by Swedish Radio News, games produced by Evolution, a leading Swedish provider of gambling products, including live casino titles, live game shows, and slots, have been found on several illegal online websites across Southeast Asia.

As noted by experts, the iGaming studio stands a chance of facilitating the fraudulent schemes of organizations behind some remote gambling websites. Some have been linked to criminal activities such as money laundering and fraud.

Sarayu Klinhorm, deputy superintendent at the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, has confirmed the ongoing investigations into the illegal activity of such remote gambling sites, with Evolution being one of the suppliers of gaming products: “From our investigation into websites offering illegal gambling, we found Evolution is one of the products featured.”

The company’s versatile range of iGaming titles, such as roulette, blackjack, and baccarat, is available across multiple jurisdictions around the globe. The world-renowned provider of high-end IT solutions for online casinos is hugely successful, with much of its progress coming from Asian markets.

Nearly all countries from the region have not authorized gambling, and there have been many reports of interactive casinos operated by groups involved in money laundering, fraud, and human trafficking.

Games from the Swedish iGaming studio have been featured on several websites in Cambodia, identified by the local authorities as illegal. Besides, the company’s gaming products have been found on a casino website in the Philippines. Although casino gaming there is legal, the online operator has been under investigation for cryptocurrency fraud and has had its license revoked.

Evolution Has Not Provided Official Response Thus Far

Mr. Klinhorm further commented on the company and its products, calling for taking more responsibility and control over their distribution in countries where gambling is not permitted by law.

The gaming studio has been asked for an interview, which it rejected, as reported by Swedish Radio News. It did respond via email, highlighting that none of the interactive gaming websites were among its customers. Evolution confirmed it performed checks on its customers. However, since the distribution network could be rather long, it might have led to the games being featured on illegal casino websites. So far, Evolution has not provided an official response.

Meanwhile, the studio continues its expansion across global markets, with the latest additions being Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The company’s well-known live game show, Crazy Time, is now available to online players in those states.

As noted in Evolution’s news release, the popular live show debuted on US soil last December in New Jersey. Since its global premiere in 2020, the multi-camera live game show has enticed millions of gaming fans, with plans for more US states to join in the action very soon.
