Arizona sports betting revenue skyrockets in April

Sportsbooks in Arizona generated revenue of $63.3 million from handing $656 million during April, the Arizona Department of Gaming reported. Those numbers represent increases of 32 percent and 22 percent, respectively, compared to April 2023.

Hold was 9.7 percent. Nearly $20 million of operators’ winnings went back to players in the form of promotional offers, reducing win by 31 percent.

Market share was concentrated heavily among the top five operators, which agglomerated 91 percent of handle and 93 percent of revenue.

Although FanDuel prevailed in both revenue ($26.5 million) and handle ($232 million), it lost ground to DraftKings. The latter accumulated revenue of $19 million off $212 million in handle, increases in both categories.

Third place went to BetMGM, which realized $8.4 million in win from $77 million handle. Wagers of $40 million engendered revenue of $3.3 million for Caesars Sportsbook. Both operators suffered reductions in handle from April of 2023.

Rounding out the top five was Bet365, which made $1.9 million off $30 million in wagering. ESPN Bet just missed the top echelon with $1.8 million in winnings off handle of $22 million.

BetRivers turned $6.2 million in handle into revenue of $200,000. All other operators combined for $2 million in win from handle of $36.2 million.
