Pennsylvania: Gaming revenue soars to $521 million in May

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Tuesday reported $521 million in revenue from all forms of gambling in May, an 8.7% increase compared to May 2023.

There were significant year-over-year revenue increases at casinos, including Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia (23.9 percent, a $15 million increase); Harrah’s Philadelphia (20.3 percent almost $4 million); and Live Casino Philadelphia (18.6 percent, just less than $5 million). The Casino at Nemacolin in Farmington saw an increase of 38.1 percent, up $645,000.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National in Grantsville led Pennsylvania casinos with gaming revenue of $81.6 million, a 9.8 percent increase compared to May 2023. Valley Forge Casino Resort followed with revenue of $79.6 million, a year-over-year increase of 23.9 percent. Parx Casino in Philadelphia posted revenue of $56.6 million, a year-over-year decrease of 3.6 percent.

Pennsylvania slot revenue in May was $214.1 million, a slight increase of 1.5 percent compared to May 2023. Parx Casino led casinos in the state with $32.6 million in slot revenue, a year-over-year decrease of 3.7 percent. Wind Creek Bethlehem generated $24.1 million, a year-over-year decrease of 1.8 percent. Rivers Casino Pittsburgh’s slot revenue was $23.3 million, an increase of 4.1 percent compared to the same time period the previous year.

Pennsylvania generated $174.1 million in igaming revenue in May. Hollywood Casino at Penn National led the state with $65.1 million, a 11.6 percent increase compared to May 2023. Valley Forge Casino Resort posted $44.4 million, a 50.3 percent increase, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia reported igaming revenue of $31.3 million, a 6.4 percent increase.

Valley Forge Casino Resort generated sports betting revenue of $22.8 million from a handle of $244.6 million. Hollywood Casino at the Meadows in Meadowlands brought in $10.9 million in revenue from a sports betting handle of $164.8 million handle. Hollywood Casino at Penn National’s sports betting revenue was $2.2 million from a handle of $32.6 million.
