Louisiana: Gaming revenue rises slightly in May

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board this week released its May gaming report, with revenue reaching $203.7 million, a slight year-over-year increase of 0.4%. Only the New Orleans gaming district saw a substantial increase of 7.6 % compared to May 2023, although Evangeline Downs posted a minuscule increase of 0.4%.

Louisiana generated online sports revenue of $32.4 million with a handle of $238 million, a year-over-year increase of 34.0%. The handle for retail sports betting was $18.4 million, yielding revenue of $2.3 million.

Perennial leader Lake Charles led all Louisiana districts with gaming revenue of $78.5 million, a year-over-year decrease of 0.6%. Golden Nugget Lake Charles reported revenue of $29.5 million, followed by L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles, which generated $27.2 million. Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel generated $14.4 million, and Horseshoe Lake Charles posted $7.4 million.

Shreveport/Bossier district properties generated revenue of $49.6 million, a 0.7% decrease compared to May 2023. Margaritaville Resort Casino posted revenue of $17.3 million, Horseshoe Bossier City generated $10.5 million, and Bally’s Shreveport Casino & Hotel reported $8.5 million.

The New Orleans district reported revenue of $45.3 million, a year-over-year decrease of 0.6%. Harrah’s New Orleans generated revenue of $20.0 million, followed by Boomtown Casino & Hotel with $11.4 million, and Treasure Chest Casino with $7.2 million.

The Baton Rouge district’s year-over-year increase of 7.6% generated revenue of $23.6 million. L’Auberge Casino Hotel led the district with $14.6 million, the Queen of Baton Rouge generated $8,4 million, and the Belle of Baton Rouge reported revenue of $0.6 million.

Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino in St. Landry Parish generated revenue of $6.7 million, a year-over-year increase of 0.4%.
