为了应对TikTok在欧美等市场的步步进逼，YouTube推出Shorts超短视频格式。日前YouTube公布了一系列针对Shorts的全新功能，其中一款文本转语音视频旁白功能就被指是参照TikTok。这功能在TikTok经常听到，特别是那些用于推广的视频，不时会出现带有机械感的声音。
事实上，YouTube不但参考了TikTok这项功能，就连添加这些语音旁白的过程也与TikTok十分相似。用户在完成文本创作后，只需点击Shorts界面左上角的全新“Add Voice”添加语音图标，然后选择想要的声线即可。现在YouTube只提供4种语音选择，但TikTok则有更多选择。
YouTube同时推出字幕自动生成功能，用户可以直接在视频中添加这些字幕，而不必再假手于CapCut等第三方程式。跟现在YouTube Shorts手动文本覆盖功能一样，用户可以从多种字体和颜色中拣选字幕的样式。有外国媒体指YouTube和TikTok近年互相借鉴，YouTube经常采用TikTok的功能，而TikTok则不断延长视频的时长，两者都尝试挑战对方比较擅长的领域。。
