Florida: Casino slot revenue down slightly in June

The Florida Gaming Control Commission has reported that its June’s slot revenue is down slightly from last June.

The state’s eight non-tribal casinos reported more than $810.5 million in bets in June, down 4.2 percent from June 2023. Slot revenue neared $55.2 million, marking a 1.5 percent decrease year-on-year.

$743.3 million was paid out in winnings to players, resulting in net slot revenues of $55.1 million after the deductions of promotional credits, winnings withheld from excluded persons and unclaimed vouchers and tickets.

June figures bring year-to-date total bets to $10.2 billion and total net revenues to $692.1 million.

The Florida Gaming Control Commission does not report revenues from the casinos operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida or the Miccosukee Tribe. Through a 2021 agreement, the Seminole Tribe of Florida is the only tribe authorized to offer Class III gaming in the state.

Magic City Casino in Miami contributed the most to net slot revenue, collecting $9.7 million in June. The Isle Casino & Racing at Pompano Park followed with $9.4 million, and Hialeah Park Casino had $8.7 million.

As per the 35 percent tax rate on slot machines in Florida, June’s figures resulted in $19.3 million in tax revenue paid to the state. Florida’s slot machine tax supports the Educational Enhancement Fund, which supports historically underrepresented groups. Year-to-date tax revenues to the state stood at $242.3 million.

The FGCC’s Pari-Mutuel Wagering Division also reported almost $17.9 million collected from cardrooms, down 1.9 percent year-on-year.

The FGCC, established through Senate Bill 4-A in May 2021, regulates the state’s gaming activities and ensures compliance with regulations.
