The MotorCity Casino will officially close its poker room on Aug. 5 at 6 a.m. A representative from the Detroit casino confirmed the news to PlayMichigan this morning.

Additional details as to how the poker room will be closed in terms of what happens to promotions and progressive jackpots such as bad beats will come at a later time. Stay tuned. PlayMichigan will report those details when it receives them.

As to why the poker room is being closed, a MotorCity Casino representative said they had “no comment at this time.”

Detroit Casino revenue figures for June were released by the Michigan Gaming Control Board last week.
