Pennsylvania: How Centre County’s proposed casino may impact local economy
The state Supreme Court last week issued a ruling that could clear the way for a new casino in Centre County. Among the questions now is what’s the possible economic impact?
Financial projections done several years ago, when the casino was first proposed, listed possible outcomes for Centre County and area municipalities in terms of tax revenue and other money.
For Centre County government, it was expected to be at least a million dollars a year.
County officials now say they’re not certain if those numbers are still accurate and that there are restrictions on how the casino money can be allocated.
