Massachusetts Gaming Commission to revisit betting limits on successful bettors

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission  will meet on August 7 about sports betting limits after a meeting in May saw limited operator participation.

The MGC aims to gather insights into the number of bettors who face limits, the reasons behind these limits and the transparency of the process. The commission, led by Interim Chair Jordan Maynard, is keen on fostering open dialogue with operators.

“Ultimately, there could be some regulations that come out of this,” Maynard told SportsHandle. “What I would pose to the operators today in public is, ‘Do you want to be a part of the conversations that help develop those or do you want to react to whatever comes out?’ ”

This move follows complaints from bettors who feel they are restricted without adequate explanation, especially after winning significant bets. The MGC hopes this meeting will lead to clearer guidelines and improved transparency in the sports betting industry.

Bally Bet was the only operator to attend the meeting in May. Since then, DraftKings, FanDuel, Caesars, BetMGM, Fanatics and ESPN Bet told the MGC that they are willing to attend a public meeting to discuss the topic.
