However, the industry overall is still booming, with gross gaming revenue up 32.3% year-on-year and 9.2% quarter-on-quarter to 89.23 billion pesos (approximately $1.56 billion), according to data released by Philippine gaming regulator PAGCOR on Sunday. , mainly due to the growth of the electronic gambling game segment.


PAGCOR Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Alejandro H. Tengco said electronic gambling games brought in 30.85 billion pesos (approximately US$539 million) in revenue and remain the fastest-growing sector in the local gaming industry.


He said, "Revenue from electronic gambling games has increased by an impressive 525% year-on-year from 4.93 billion pesos (approximately US$86.1 million) in 2023."


“This segment continues to exceed expectations and should be able to make up for the shortfall in revenue from the President’s order to ban offshore gaming operations, or POGOs, by the end of the year.”


Casinos under PAGCOR's Casino Filipino brand brought in 4.2 billion pesos (approximately $73.3 million) in the second quarter, down 14.8% from 2023's 4.93 billion pesos (approximately $86.1 million) and 14.8% lower than the previous quarter. Quarterly revenue of 4.69 billion pesos (approximately $81.9 million) decreased by 10.41%.


PAGCOR said the bingo business recorded gaming revenue of 4.69 billion pesos (approximately $81.9 million), down from 5.85 billion pesos (approximately $102 million) in the second quarter of 2023 and 4.81 billion in the first quarter. pesos (approximately $84 million).
