Vanuatu has launched a new online portal to make the processing of applications for its newly introduced online gambling license easier. Earlier this week, the Pacific island nation updated its licensing framework, attracting international iGaming companie
The move is in line with the country's Interactive Gaming Act, passed in 2000, which has been updated to adapt to the changing gaming landscape. The project aims to facilitate B2C operators active in the gray market by enabling these operators to obtain a Vanuatu interactive gaming license completely online through the portal, which can be accessed via https://www.vga.vu access.
Vanuatu Gaming Authority boosts industry compliance and efficiency
Macyn White, CEO of the Vanuatu Gaming Authority (VGA), which is responsible for the new licensing framework, highlighted the advantages of the online application process. White said the new online application portal meets all needs, allowing interested companies to quickly obtain information and get started. The VGA’s new approach aims to position Vanuatu as the jurisdiction of choice for online operators targeting the quasi-regulated market.
Key details of Vanuatu gaming license
The new Vanuatu licensed gaming license offers several attractive features, including a €5,000 application fee, an annual fee of €10,000 and a 15-year license validity. In addition, there is a 1% wagering activity tax on gross gaming revenue (GGR). The license also includes one URL, with the option to add more for a modest fee.
White also explained earlier this week that the license is designed for B2C operators, providing a regulatory environment that supports direct interaction with consumers. She added that the license framework is flexible enough to accommodate various types of B2C businesses, from online casinos to sports betting platforms, making it an attractive option for operators in this sector.
Efficient processing through public-private partnerships
VGA works with the Vanuatu Department of Customs and Internal Revenue to process applications and complete them within two to three weeks.
