Pennsylvania: Gaming revenue reaches $500 million in July

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Tuesday reported revenue of $500.7 million from all forms of gambling in July, a year-over-year increase of 7.2%.

The state benefited from increases in igaming revenue, with internet slots increasing 32.2% to $125.4 million and internet table game revenue increasing 31.7% to $46.6 million year-over-year. Revenue from sports betting also increased significantly to $38.6 million, a 20.1% increase from July 2023.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National in Grantsville led Pennsylvania casinos with gaming revenue of $79.5 million, a 13.4% increase compared to July 2023. Valley Forge Casino Resort followed with revenue of $74.5 million, a 36.4% increase year over year, and Parx Casino in Philadelphia reported revenue of $54.4 million, a 3.1% decrease year over year.

Pennsylvania slot revenue was down across the state in July to $204.3 million, a decrease of 4.8% compared to July 2023. Parx Casino led Pennsylvania casinos with $30.8 million, a decrease of 7.4% year-over-year, and Wind Creek Bethlehem generated $23.6 million, a year-over-year decrease of 5.3%. Rivers Casino Pittsburgh’s slot revenue was $21.6 million, a decrease of 8.7% compared to the same time period in 2023.

Pennsylvania generated $174.3 million in igaming revenue in July. Hollywood Casino at Penn National led the state in igaming revenue with $64.0 million, a 17.7% increase. Valley Forge Casino Resort posted $45.5 million, a healthy increase of 55.7%, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia reported igaming revenue of $29.8 million, up 11.2%.

Valley Forge Casino Resort generated sports betting revenue of $17.9 million from a handle of $166.4 million. Hollywood Casino at the Meadows in Meadowlands brought in $10.5 million in revenue from a sports betting handle of $110.3 million. Hollywood Casino Morgantown had sports betting revenue $1.8 million from a handle of $28.7 million.
