Alphabet旗下新創事業Waymo宣布其自駕計程車Waymo One業績達到新里程碑，在鳳凰城、舊金城及洛杉磯等市區的服務量每周突破10萬次
Waymo採用雙執行長制，由Tekedra Mawakana及Dmitri Dolgov擔任執行長，此次是Mawakana透過個人的X帳戶發布了此一消息。
儘管如此，Waymo應該還是一個正在大量燒錢的事業。Alphabet財務長Ruth Porat在上個月的財報會議上透露，未來幾年將再投入50億美元至Waymo。
Waymo現為Alphabet的新創事業（Other Bets）之一，在Alphabet的其它的新創同伴還包括無人機公司Wing、生命科學研究機構Verily、生物技術公司Calico，以及光纖服務公司GFiber等。根據Alphabet今年第二季的財報，新創事業該季的總收入為3.65億美元，但虧損11.34億美元，去年同期的新創事業營收是2.85億美元，虧損8.13億美元。
不過，Waymo甫於本周公布其第六代Waymo Driver（下圖），此一新一代的自駕車系統配備13個攝影機、4個光達（LiDAR），6個雷達，以及一系列的外部音訊接收器（EARs），比起上一代系統的29個攝影機、5個光達與6個雷達的配備更省成本。
Waymo宣稱第六代系統不僅可在不影響安全性的情況下降低成本，也能獲得更高的性能。它替Waymo Driver提供了車輛周圍500米內、各種天氣條件，以及全天候的重疊視野。／Waymo
