当地时间12月4日，菲律宾国家警察(PNP)在拉斯彬迎斯市(Las Pinas)逮捕三名涉及网络爱情骗局的三人，其中包括两名尼日利亚国民。
菲国警表示，被捕嫌疑人分别为23岁的Leanna Veronica Padua，以及尼日利亚公民Precious Samuel 和 Ushahemva Ijirzua。
据悉，投诉人是一名55岁的女性，她声称在一个社交媒体网站上与某位“Philip Brian”结为好友，两人通过应用程序进一步发展为恋情。
嫌疑人设法让受害者汇款23万披索。几天后，嫌疑人又再次向受害者索要钱财。
累计八笔汇款均发送给Leanna Veronica Padua，其中四笔在该市Pulang Lupa Uno 区的门店领取、而另一笔在一家购物中心领取。
当局从嫌疑人身上没收三部手机，并正在调查资金的去向以及可能的其他受害者。
嫌疑人将面临诈欺罪以及违反第10175号共和国法令《2012年防止网络犯罪法》的指控。
