Arizona sports betting handle up 15.5 percent year over year in June

The Arizona Department of Gaming has revealed sports betting handle of $454 million in June, a nearly 15.5 percent increase compared to June 2023. Just less than $450 million of this sports betting handle came from online sports betting.

The operator that saw the most action in June was DraftKings, which handled more than $153 million through its online platform and more than $1.5 million at its retail sportsbook. The second most was brought in by FanDuel, with an online betting handle of more than $149 million and retail more than $1.7 million. These sportsbooks accounted for more than 67 percent of Arizona’s monthly sports betting handle combined. No other operator handled more than $53 million.

From this sports betting handle, sportsbooks collected more than $46 million in Adjusted Gross Event Wagering Receipts, giving the state a hold of around 10 percent. Arizona sports betting laws allow operators to remove free bets and promotional credits from these figures before paying taxes. The Arizona Department of Gaming collected more than $3 million in taxes, charging an 8 percent fee on retail sportsbooks and 10 percent on mobile operators.

The Arizona Department of Gaming also has issued a warning to bettors about gaming scam calls amid an increase in cases of these crimes.
