The Riverside Resort & Casino on Sept. 5 reported a data breach affecting approximately 55,155 people who may have had their personal information compromised earlier in the year.

According to information filed by Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker, LLP on behalf of the popular Laughlin gambling establishment, an external system breach occurred at the Riverside casino on July 25. It was discovered the same day.

“Upon discovery, Riverside immediately engaged forensic specialists in cybersecurity and data privacy to investigate further. Through this investigation, Riverside determined that an unauthorized third party potentially accessed and acquired certain files during this incident,” Assistant General Manager Matthew Laughlin said in a notification letter sent to consumers affected by the data breach.
