The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has taken a major step forward in its gaming and entertainment landscape, the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) has issued its first-ever commercial land-based casino gaming license to Wynn Resorts. This landmark decision paves the way for the development of a integrated resort on the picturesque Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), one of the seven emirates that make up the UAE.

Wynn Resorts has long been eyeing the UAE’s burgeoning tourism and investment potential. The company’s track record in creating iconic integrated resorts has caught the attention of the UAE government, leading to this historic partnership. Wynn’s project in RAK is a joint venture between the company’s affiliates, Marjan, and RAK Hospitality Holding, further solidifying the company’s commitment to the region.

The Wynn Al Marjan Island Resort, scheduled to open in 2027, is set to redefine the entertainment and gaming landscape in the UAE. This multi-billion-dollar project will feature a sprawling gaming floor, over 1,000 hotel rooms, state-of-the-art convention facilities, a diverse array of shopping and dining options, and much more. The resort’s strategic location, just 15 minutes from Ras Al Khaimah International Airport and 45 minutes from Dubai International Airport, makes it an easily accessible and attractive destination for both local and international visitors.

The UAE government and Marjan, the master developer of Al Marjan Island, have placed their trust in Wynn Resorts’ expertise in creating luxury hospitality destinations. Wynn’s track record of developing integrated resorts with exceptional accommodation, dining, entertainment, and gaming facilities has been a key factor in this partnership. Marjan’s CEO, Abdulla Al Abdooli, has expressed his enthusiasm about collaborating with Wynn, recognizing the company’s ability to “raise the benchmark in luxury hospitality in the region” and generate exceptional value for Ras Al Khaimah’s economy.

The introduction of the Wynn Al Marjan Island Resort is expected to have a transformative impact on the UAE’s tourism industry. By leveraging Wynn’s global reputation and expertise, the new development will attract a wide range of visitors, from leisure travellers to business and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourists. This influx of tourists is poised to provide a significant boost to the local economy, diversifying revenue streams and strengthening the UAE’s position as a premier tourism destination.
