微軟表示當檔案名稱包含.DOCX與.RTF等大寫的副檔名，或者是含有特殊符號#時，使用者如果沒有先儲存檔案再關閉Word，檔案可能會被刪除
解決方法包括從回收站中尋找並恢復遭到刪除的檔案，或是在關閉Word之前先存檔。根據微軟的測試，當使用者點擊右上方的X按鈕要關閉Word，接著系統跳出提示詢問是否要儲存檔案，若使用者按下儲存，檔案可能就會被刪除。
另一個方法是在檔案~>選項~>存檔中，啟用「透過鍵盤捷徑開啟或儲存檔案時不顯示Backstage」的選項，也能避免檔案被刪除的事件發生。
還有其它使用者建議可以改用更早之前的Office或Word版本。另一名使用者則說，該公司所使用的ERP軟體所生成的檔案，其副檔名預設值就是大寫的.DOCX，但只要把它們改成小寫字母就好了。
