Louisiana: Gaming revenue drops in every district, but sports betting increases

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board this week reported revenue of $169.9 million from all forms of gaming in September, a year-over-year decrease of 8.3%.

Gaming revenue dropped in every district in Louisiana, but revenue from sports betting almost doubled from August’s total. OSB revenue was $49.9 million, up 33.0% year-over-year from a handle of $320.0 million, up 29.0% compared to September 2023.

Properties in the Lake Charles district led with gaming revenue of $67.3 million, a 7.4% decrease year-over-year. Golden Nugget Lake Charles led all properties in the district with $24.6 million in revenue, a drop of 5.2%.  L’Auberge Casino Resort posted revenue of $23.0 million, down 13.4% from September 2023, and Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel generated $12.8 million, a decrease of 2.9%.

The New Orleans district generated revenue of $39.5 million, a 6.1% decrease year-over-year. Harrah’s New Orleans reported revenue of $16.1 million, a decrease of 22.1%, followed by Treasure Chest Casino with $11.4 million, up 65.1% from September 2023, and Boomtown Casino & Hotel with $7.2 million was down 17.7%.

Shreveport/Bossier City district properties generated revenue of $39.1 million, a 11.4% decrease compared to September 2023. Margaritaville Resort Casino came in at 14.5 million, a year-over-year decrease of 4.9%, and Horseshoe Bossier City generated $8.1 million, a decrease of 22.1% compared to September 2023. Bally’s Shreveport Casino & Hotel posted revenue of $7.3 million, a year-over-year decrease of 11.3%.

The Baton Rouge district had a year-over-year decrease of 10.5%, resulting in revenue of $18.6 million. L’Auberge Casino Hotel led the district with $11.8 million, down 6.2% year-over-year. The Queen of Baton Rouge generated $6.7 million, down 8.2% year-over year, and the Belle of Baton Rouge reported revenue of $0.1 million, a drop of 88.8% compared to September 2023.
