当地时间12月22日，菲律宾移民局(BI)表示正在尼诺·阿基诺国际机场(NAIA)和其他国际港口部署所有可用人员，以在圣诞节假期为大量的出入境旅客提供服务。
移民局长诺曼·陈新戈(Norman Tansingco)表示，他们每天处理大约3.5万名入境旅客和近3万名离境旅客。
他补充说：“随着新冠肺炎的确诊率下降，出游民众数量的报复性反弹表明全球旅游业正在回暖。”
移民局长表示，最近在日本参加国际移民论坛的与会者注意到，各自国家的机场都排起了长队。
陈新戈表示：“虽然排长队是不可避免的，但他们正在确保迅速处理旅客。所有柜台都有人值班，旅客处理时间符合45秒的国际标准。此外，菲律宾人还可以使用电子门，使处理时间缩短至8秒。”
菲移民局早些时候已经禁止其员工在节假日期间休假。
