Andrew MacDonald, the Chief Casino Officer at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), has officially stepped down from his position with immediate effect, the announcement made by Genting Singapore, the parent company of RWS, indicated that MacDonald’s departure was to “pursue personal interests.” This decision was effective as of November 1, 2023, and the company did not provide further details regarding his exit

Andrew MacDonald has had a distinguished career in the gaming industry, marked by significant achievements and leadership roles. Before joining RWS in September 2022, he spent nearly 12 years at Marina Bay Sands (MBS), where he held the position of Executive Vice President of Casino Operations. His experience at MBS laid a solid foundation for his subsequent role at RWS, where he was responsible for overseeing the entire casino business.

MacDonald’s time at RWS was relatively brief but impactful. He took on the role of Chief Casino Officer at RWS after the expiration of a non-compete agreement following his departure from MBS in July 2021. His expertise in managing casino operations was expected to bolster RWS’s standing in the competitive gaming market of Singapore.

MacDonald had previously announced on LinkedIn that he received a persona non grata notice from MBS. This notice barred him from entering any part of the MBS premises, including the hotel, mall, and casino. The ban was reportedly due to allegations of attempting to lure high-rollers away from MBS.

According to Genting Singapore’s annual report for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2023, MacDonald’s total remuneration was reported to be between S$2.5 million and S$2.75 million. This figure reflects his high-level position within the organization and the significant responsibilities he held during his tenure.
