Louisiana online sports betting is booming, but concerns persist
From the football field to the basketball court to the baseball diamond. The amount of money bet on sports in Louisiana is incredibly high. A total of $1.4 billion was wagered in 2023, and Louisiana is one of the top 10 betting states in the country.
This means millions in taxes are collected for Louisiana. Louisiana made just over $52 million in the last two years.
“It has definitely exceeded what I thought it would do,” said state Sen. Kirk Talbot.
The numbers in 2024 are even bigger than what experts predicted.
