It may sound odds, but there are companies offering to pay people in the UK to disclose personal details so they can create online gambling accounts. The Guardian recently explained that certain sites like Moneyful Ltd. claim people can make thousands by providing their details and uploading proof of address and ID documents.

asks people to get a debit card that is then used for depositing money

Moneyful asks people to get a debit card that is then used for depositing money into these accounts. In exchange, Moneyful gives them £100 ($124) and another £100 every time they refer another person to the company.

Consumer protection experts cautioned that people should not hand over sensitive information to these companies. The UK Gambling Commission prohibits people from allowing another person or entity to use another’s private information to gamble.

It appears that these types of companies use gambling accounts to engage in matched betting, allowing them to take advantage of promotions, an approach which isn’t necessarily illegal, just frowned upon and usually leads to the operator closing the account of anyone suspected of doing so.

Responding to The Guardian’s questions, Moneyful acknowledged the risk of disclosing private information to any type of organization and said that its operations are completely legit.
