The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has fined Greentube Alderney Limited £1m ($1.2m) for social responsibility and anti-money laundering (AML) failings relating to its Admiral Casino brand.

The announcement on Thursday outlined that the funds would go toward socially responsible programs. The Novomatic-owned Greentube had similar issues when it received a £685,000 ($842,449) fine in December 2021.

The specific social responsibility violations this time around included not ensuring that customer spending limits related to dependable income statements, not properly checking the authenticity of verification documents, and failing to identify indicators of harm in users.

The operator also committed a variety of AML offenses, including the untimely checking of income verification documents, not taking into account customers with risky occupations when building risk profiles, and not properly investigating accounts that were potential duplicates.

Talking about the transgressions, UKGC Director of Enforcement John Pierce said the latest issues came to light as part of a follow-up from the regulator’s compliance team to ensure Greentube was still meeting its obligations following the 2021 fine.

Pierce acknowledged the improvements the operator has made to date despite the fresh problems. The UKGC ensured Greentube implemented a rapid plan to resolve all the issues.
