China’s Supreme Court Backs Stricter Punishments for Cross-Border Gambling Crimes

The Supreme Court in China is backing proposals to introduce harsher punishments for cross-border gambling crimes. It highlighted six relevant cases to showcase the tough approach that it believes is necessary to crack down on overseas casinos that entice Chinese gamblers.

In one instance, the organizer of a gambling syndicate who profited by more than US$41m from mainland residents received a six-year prison sentence.
