A peaceful deportation protest in East Las Vegas on the national ‘Day Without Immigrants’ turned violent, according to police.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), its officers ordered protesters to disperse o Monday night after they had rocks and bottles thrown at them.

Las Vegas Locally took to X with footage of the confrontation with the LVMPD:

According to 8 News Now, several hundred protestors waving Mexican flags convened near Charleston and Lamb boulevards. The protest escalated, the LVMPD stated, when people began to “seize the intersection,” with rocks and bottles thrown at officers and one demonstrator even pointing a firearm at them.

Media reports reveal the LVMPD and a SWAT team were on the scene and at around 10:40 pm told protesters to disperse since the protest had become an “unlawful gathering.”

Law enforcement made several arrests after their call to disperse went unanswered. Officials are not sure the action was connected to the “loosely organized” national day of protest against President Donald Trump’s crackdown on immigration policies.
