India: YSRCP Spokesperson Alleges Political Protection for Illegal Casinos

Vangaveeti Narendra, the State Official Spokesperson for the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), has leveled serious allegations against the Andhra Pradesh coalition government led by N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Narendra accused the administration of allowing the state to become a “drugs den,” claiming that narcotics, ganja, and gambling operations are flourishing under political protection.

Speaking at the YSRCP Central Office, Narendra specifically targeted Minister Parthasarathy, alleging that he and his associates have operated a major casino near Agiripalli in the Eluru district for nearly eight months. He claimed the venue hosts hundreds of gamblers daily from regions including Telangana and Hyderabad, with transactions involving cash and casino tokens occurring openly. Narendra alleged the Minister receives regular commissions from these activities and demanded his immediate dismissal from the Cabinet.

Furthermore, Narendra criticized the government for abolishing the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB)—which he claimed had successfully destroyed 11,500 acres of ganja crops under former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy—and replacing it with the "toothless" EAGLE unit. Citing a recent police raid at the Agiripalli casino that reportedly seized ₹50 lakh ($60,000) in cash and 120 cars, he alleged the incident was suppressed by media due to political pressure. He warned that the YSRCP will launch legal and public agitations if the government fails to shut down these gambling clubs and tackle drug trafficking.
