The Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA), an arm of the Brazilian Ministry of Finance, has officially extended its cooperation agreement with the Brazil Digital Council until June 30, 2026. The extension, formalized just before the original year-end deadline, ensures the uninterrupted execution of strategic initiatives aimed at regulating the digital betting landscape.

The core mission of this partnership is to combat illegal betting content and enhance online safety. By fostering direct communication between the government and major digital platforms, the agreement facilitates the rapid detection and removal of unauthorized gambling promotions. A significant focus remains on the protection of minors, with both parties committed to strictly enforcing legislation that safeguards children and adolescents within social media and cyber environments.

The Brazil Digital Council represents tech giants including Google, Meta, TikTok, Kwai, OpenAI, Discord, Hotmart, Uber, and Amazon. This collaborative framework allows the Ministry of Finance to leverage the collective expertise of these platforms to improve regulatory supervision. As Brazil’s sports betting industry enters a crucial phase of enforcement in 2026, this extension reinforces the government's determination to align public governance with platform integrity.
