Cambodia Gaming Revenue Jumps 14% to $72M Amid Tightened Regulatory Compliance
Southeast Asia · 2026-03-04

Ros Phearun (Chea Chanto), Technical Advisor to the Commercial Gambling Management Commission of Cambodia (CGCC), recently revealed that national gambling revenue reached approximately $72 million in 2025, a 14% year-on-year increase from $60 million in 2024.

Sihanoukville Remains the Hub with 160 Active Casinos

By the end of 2025, Cambodia hosted 195 licensed casinos, with 160 currently in operation. The vast majority of these establishments are concentrated in Preah Sihanouk Province, reinforcing its status as the nation's primary gaming hub.

Regulatory Update: 5 Casino Licenses Suspended or Revoked

To enforce industry compliance, authorities have implemented a tiered penalty system. The CGCC recently announced the suspension or revocation of licenses for 5 casinos. Officials emphasized that all operators must strictly adhere to state laws or face penalties ranging from formal warnings and fines to license revocation.

Shifting from Expansion to Quality

Current data suggests that Cambodia’s regulatory cleanup has not negatively impacted overall revenue. By filtering out non-compliant entities, the market is successfully pivoting from rapid scale expansion toward a model focused on compliance and sustainable growth.
