Korean Demand Fuels Growth and Digitalization in Vietnam’s Gaming Sector
Southeast Asia · 2026-03-13

Vietnam’s casino industry is experiencing a period of significant expansion, with South Korean tourists remaining its primary growth engine.

Under Vietnam's current "foreigner-only" gaming policy, Korean players form the backbone of both major integrated resorts and urban e-gaming clubs. Although the recent return of Chinese tourists has slightly diluted market shares, the Korean customer base remains remarkably stable. Currently, the market is showing a clear trend of segmentation: high-end players, such as executives from the manufacturing and trade sectors, demonstrate strong betting potential, while the general mass market is becoming more sensitive to costs, prioritizing airfare, hotel packages, and promotional rebates.

To cater to a younger generation of Korean players who are accustomed to mobile-first experiences, Vietnamese operators are accelerating their digital transformation. The traditional service model, which relied heavily on phone calls, is rapidly being replaced by mobile applications, instant messaging tools, and social media platforms, making digital connectivity essential for maintaining customer relationships. At the same time, competition within the industry is intensifying. Major venues are significantly increasing promotional spending and commission rates while actively recruiting seasoned managers from South Korea who possess extensive personal networks, offering higher salaries and incentives to secure high-quality clientele.

Looking ahead, analysts project at least a 15% increase in gaming traffic, largely driven by the opening of Long Thanh International Airport and the expansion of direct flights between Korea and Vietnam. Compared to other gaming destinations, Vietnam’s lower cost of living, familiar culinary culture, and perceived safety are attracting an increasing number of Korean players who previously frequented other countries. As infrastructure improves and digital operations deepen, Vietnam's appeal as a regional gaming hub will continue to rise.
