视频平台抖音自从以TikTok的名义于海外市场推出，就陆续为YouTube带来冲击。当TikTok刚推出时，只可以上传最长15秒的视频，到了2017年增加至1分钟，虽然限制在2021年放宽至3分钟，但大多数创作者则倾向上传30秒的视频。

TikTok带起的短视频速食文化，让网民在极短时间内取得娱乐，不少原本使用YouTube的网民因而转投TikTok，最后YouTube甚至要仿效对手推出Shorts短视频格式迎战。日前TikTok Creativity Program宣布新计划，邀请部分创作者制作长度超过1分钟的视频，有外国媒体认为这是TikTok进一步冲击YouTube的举动。
新计划现阶段以Beta模式向部分特选创作者发出参加的邀请，但TikTok表示在数个月内会向美国的创作者全面开放。为了吸引创作者制作和发布，长度超过1分钟的高质原创视频，TikTok更会为这些作品提供较高的利润分成。虽然计划会在美国率先推出，但TikTok Creativity Program也在法国和巴西提供，未来也会扩展至更多市场。
